UNIXBlog - A site for Linux/UNIX users

What is UNIXBlog?

UNIXBlog is a website for Linux/UNIX users and administrators. We try to analyze and find the best practice-solutions for various problems one might come across in todays open-source Linux/UNIX systems. In order to make the website as useful as possible, there are plenty of articles about how to optimize and tweak certain systems or services to handle more traffic on less hardware. The idea is to have a high quality database where users and administrators easily can find the solutions for their problems.

As the website is very new (UNIXBlog went live in the late fall of 2008) there's most likely a lot of problems/questions that are unanswered. We really hope to fill out the blanks as soon as possible. If you have a certain problem or wish to read about a certain topic, please let us know and we will do our best to help you out.

Categories

The website is divided into 3 different categories to make things easier to find. Usually, users are mostly interested in the Articles category, since it's the main part of the website and where most work are done. Though, here is a quick explanation of the rest of the articles:

  • News - Various news related to Linux/UNIX or any other open-source project.
  • Articles - The main part of our website where most of our articles can be found.
  • Blog - Any articles related to this project can be found here.

If you're unsure where to look, just use our and it will dig through all three categories at once. If you get too many hits, you might want to be more specific, as it catches any word mentioned in the article, any tags or the headlines.

Contribute

We have already had a few users asking if they can help us by writing articles. In order to make this possible, the idea is to create a "Contribute" page, where anyone can write an articles. Once submitted, we will see if the articles submitted are well structured, is of good quality, easy to understand and so on. If so, we publish it. However, until such page is completed, all we can offer is that you send us the articles. We hope to have this page added within a near future though.
