New hardware for our server
28Nov2008
Finally some real power!
As we unexpectedly got some extra money in our wallets, we decided to spend it on some new hardware for UNIXBlog.org. New hardware is always fun and this really keeps us motivated to keep on coding! The stuff we bought cost about $400 in total and we got the following things:
- 1x Intel Core2 Duo 3.0Ghz (E8400) with 2 x 3Mb L2 cache and 1333FSB
- 2x 2Gb of 800Mhz DDR2 memory (Kingston)
- 1x Asus P5KPL-AM microATX motherboard with 1600FSB.
Since we already had a chassi, a power supply unit and a 512Gb harddrive, we got ourselfs a completely new machine which now runs the latest version of FreeBSD.
