Finally ready for the public

After about a month of hard work and very little sleep, we're proud to announce that UNIXBlog.org goes live! So far, we've only managed to write one article but there are plenty more to come. If you wish to give us ideas about things to write, don't hesitate contacting us!

The framework behind this

As for the website itself, it consist of ~2000 lines of optimized PHP code and ~700 lines of valid HTML and CSS. It's a lightweight template framework which parse the requests, fetch needed information from the database server and cache the completed page directly to the RAM using memcached. The framework is written with both security and performance in mind and it's very fast and easy on resources.

Found a bug?

Some features might appear buggy as they haven't been properly tested yet. Please bear with us as we'll spend the next coming days writing more articles and fixing minor bugs that might be found.

The Ten OS Commandments:

“And the Operating System spoke these words saying I am the UNIX your OS…

ONE: ‘You shall have no other Operating Systems before Me.’

TWO: ‘You shall not make for yourself a graphical icon that is multicolored and clickable with a mouse or trackball or any pointing device.’

THREE: ‘You shall not misspell or mix the case of the UNIX your OS.’

FOUR: ‘Remember your process ID and keep it holy.’

FIVE: ‘Honor your system administrator and source code repository.’

SIX: ‘You should not reboot; instead, kill offending and non essential processes; rebooting is a last resort.’

SEVEN: ‘You shall not abuse your file access privileges.’

EIGHT: ‘You shall not take the credit for code and scripts that you steal.’

NINE: ‘You shall not login as another user without informing them.’

TEN: ‘You shall covet you neighbor’s shell scripts, source code, profile, shell and anything else that you can learn.’”
